Located in Elk Grove, this Hilton Garden Inn boasts a highly praised central location and a friendly, accommodating staff. However, the property suffers from significant maintenance issues, with reports of dirty carpet, outdated bedding, lighting problems, and inconsistent housekeeping.
There are a lot of positives for this hotel. However, the lighting in the room we had was awful. I had to remove the lampshade to see things on my side of the room. The dim lighting made everything look dingy. The bathroom lighting was great. However it did allow me to see the stains of mildew or mold on the bottom of the tub surround. I know hotels try to save electricity but all that happens is every light in the room has to be turned on and left on. Not only could I not see well, I felt like the room might not be clean. The bedding was fresh and the bed comfortable. The location is very good, the staff was friendly and efficient. We were pleased that we could order ala carte for breakfast rather that pay for a big buffet. We are not big eaters. The waiter was very good and professional. Due to the room lighting I would never stay here again and do not recommend this hotel. My husband has been a Hilton honors member for years so we know Hilton can do better
On February 14, 2026, we checked into the Hilton Garden Inn and met Ian, who assigned us room 106. Unfortunately, the room was not satisfactory, and the television displayed "No Signal" on all channels. After sending a message about the issue, Ian arrived to attempt a fix. We ended up calling again, this time speaking with Jackson. He was incredibly helpful, providing us with room 223 and ensuring everything functioned properly. Additionally, he offered us complimentary breakfast. Jackson truly transformed our experience.
Theres absolutely no way these 5 star reviews are real. We booked a night based on reviews but as soon as we walked in our room, we walked right out. It was purely disgusting. The room smelled like public bathroom, it was dusty and stains everywhere, the bathroom had no toilet paper or toilet paper holder, and there were ketchup packets inside one of the drawers where they have the coffee pot set up. Not a chance in hell I would sleep on the bed inside those blankets. If there was a good thing to comment about, the staff was friendly and granted a refund because they understood the situation. However, I dont think I would ever try this place again.
We looked forward to staying here . Hilton even outdated... always have comfortable beds until this one. We were in a King Standard and the bed once we laid down was old and can feel springs coils in spine and hips . There was little mattress left on this bed to feel just mostly pain from the springs and coils . We drove 5 hours 45 minutes one way for a medical procedure. Woke at 5 am to no coffee except decaf and tea pods in room. I go downstairs and there is no coffee so waited till around 5:15 got some fresh coffee to take meds with. Decided to write the manager an e mail was in so much pain. Manager read my e mail and we will get a refund, that is so professional. Thank you. However my spine and hips hurt so bad and a long drive back today with no sleep. Was in no pain yesterday in my back until the old mattress. When we checked in the young man was kind and mentioned a renovation soon... and can understand now after the night of a old mattress that caused a lot of pain. When told the next staff a new young man this morning around 5 a.m. needed coffee and it wasn't ready at 5a.m. no problem waited another 15 minutes and yet told him the mattress was awful too... not being rude at all ..was just it is a very old mattress. Once again was told the place was being renovated soon. The heated pool was cold to cold to be advertised as heated to a temperature that is comfortable... and another couple said the same thing to us that they also knew it was not heated enough to get in si they like us did not get in. Yet want to stay staff is kind... especially checking in. The Manager was quick to respond to e mail. The breakfast was just a regular continental nothing worth $18 per person. We love Hilton and this particular one was not for us ...yet hopeful the renovation will help and the staff is kind and really good in my opinion. Can not hold them responsible for an old outdated mattress that is painful or a mediocre breakfast . That's the Company fault.
This HGI is my favorite destination when I stay in Elk Grove. The staff are very engaging and always welcome me I arrive. I am excited about the impending renovations. I asked for automatic blinds and foot warmers in the mattress. We'll see if they incorporate my wish.
I called in for an early check in and the front desk lady said very quickly “check in is at 3” then proceeded to look into my reservation. The breakfast was okay cut off time at 9 is early for me. The gym is small and does not have mats, the peloton is not connected and requires a subscription, one of the two running machines is broken. The worst thing was finding dirty socks in my room!! I do not believe they cleaned it before I stayed. The bathroom was extremely stinky (mildew and pee). I could not sleep well felt like I had bugs crawling on me. If you want a restful night of sleep do not book here!!
I have stayed here several times over the past 10 years and the hotel has always been nice and clean. This time I was disappointed. This hotel needs a remodel. The carpet was filthy and I did not want to walk on it barefoot. The drain did not drain fast and the fitted bed sheet did not fit on the bed. The sheet came undone both nights. If they would fix those issues this hotel would be great. The lobby is nice and clean and the hotel staff were very great.
I had a wonderful experience staying here. As a 65-year-old woman traveling alone to attend a three-day horse competition in Elk Grove, I truly appreciated how safe and comfortable everything felt. The parking lot was well-lit with plenty of spots just steps from the entrance, which made coming and going easy and secure. The lobby was spotless and modern, and the front desk staff were consistently friendly and helpful. I had called ahead to let them know I’d be arriving late, and they were ready for me when I got there. They even gave me a quiet room on the 4th floor, away from a group of wedding guests — which I really appreciated.
Stayed here many times over the years. I usually hit BJ's next door for dinner when I'm in town. Cameron is awesome at the front desk. Highly recommend Hilton Garden Inn Elk Grove.
Wrong bill. My wife checked in this hotel, and used her card to check in . Next day, wife's boss also flew in and her (wife's boss' ) credit card was added on to booking so that all bookings to go one card instead of one card getting billed in GBP and other one in USD for a USD bill. I then called the hotel on 16th March, only to get zero joy. As a Gold member I won't use this hotel again or rather the hotel chain now. My wife is also a Gold member and I bet she will steer clear. Apart from this, breakfast options for vegetarians are very very limited - barely cooked potatoes at breakfast. Rooms lack life, air con works, not really becoming of a Hilton hotel. Staff behaviour towards brown guests is uncivilised too - just avoid. Never again - I'd rather stay at the local Super9
